Clean Water, Please

I always hit this point of having so much to write about, but not remembering a single thing.  So, here goes nothing.

This week in our area we had major success.  We talked to William and Judith about marriage and they accepted for the date of 19th of April!!!!!!! I was really excited for that and thank you for all your prayers. William is a little nervous about it, but when he came to church the next Sunday, he was all green lights for the wedding, so we are stopping by on Tuesday to make for sure plans with them.  It's so awesome to see them showing their faith.  Our other couple Carlos and Jacinta haven't been to church in the past three Sundays.  This Sunday their little boy was sick and they had to go to the hospital so they missed church.  I don't like thinking this way, especially when people are having difficulties, but I think if they would come to church, they might have a few more blessings to count.  We also found a brand new family this week, Lazarus and Albertina.  This family is fantastic.  Lazarus is extremely curious about the gospel and is praying to get an answer.  His wife needs a little convincing because she goes to another church, but Lazarus is helping us with that.  I think marriage will help her get on board and also visits with the members.  They have a beautiful baby boy and another little boy.  They have the funniest curly hair.  Next on the list is Charles.  Charles is a married man who has a deep interest in the gospel and he is trying to get all of his friends into it.  The last meeting we had with him more of his friends showed up than his family.  We tried to explain the plan of salvation, but ended up getting the catholic endowment session from one of his friends.  Lots of interesting concepts, but in the end, just concepts.  Elder Oryang and I looked at each other after that last lesson and decided that the Spirit definitely was not there.  None the less, a good learning experience.   All of these guys could use more prayers and maybe if they could find there names on to the prayer roll at the temple, that would be good too.

In other news, we had a baptism this week!!!!!!  It was awesome.  We had a lot of help from the branch.  The girl we baptized is named Aida.  She was very excited to get baptized and the water was almost black.  The water tanks and the trouble that the water company is having out here is making the water do some weird stuff so we are sticking to the bottled stuff.  Anyway, as far as I know she hasn't gotten sick and is enjoying a new start on life.  The young men in our branch are extremely satisfied with our companionship because we have a few more young women that are on their way to being baptized.  ha ha!  Lots of support from those guys.  We have more baptisms coming up this week and we are excited to get more people in the water... cleaner water that is.

So, in other news, I totally got sick this week and I don't know how.  I spent yesterday in bed and I am fighting off the remainder of the cold today, but I'm almost back to normal so no worries.  It was just a head cold, nothing big.

I am super excited to hear about your running adventures this week mom.  That's crazy.  How do you run so far?  Are you preparing for the marathon?  Like, seriously going to do it?  In any case, that's a pretty big accomplishment and I like your analogy to the investigators thing.  It's so true.  I have never ran 18 miles, but I think I get the drift.  Also, Sammy getting married in August!!!!!!!  What is going on here? ha ha!  That's so great.  I think I might actually get to meet this one before they get married.   I am getting back from my mission and I already have new cousins.  So excited for that.  The wedding you guys went to sounds and looks really nice.  I forget what that's like because out here it's a little more simple.  Sometimes the best time to introduce missionaries is right after a big life change.  Think what if their first anniversary was in the house of the Lord?  Talk about unforgettable, I mean it would have to take an eternity to forget that (am I dropping enough hints???).   You would be surprised what the gospel can do.  What better wedding present than unity.  Just some homework maybe or invite them to an activity, give their number to the missionaries there in California.  Who knows, maybe Raul will become interested.  Just remember faith without works is dead.  If you don't do it, I will!  Don't wait for me, please.  Sometimes the only thing we lack to do miracles is the faith before the miracle.

Anyways, it was good to hear from you guys.  Thanks for all your love and support!
Love Elder Proksch
