Slide Tackle!

Oi !!! ha ha ha ha

That means hello, kinda like, "como via",  which is "What's up?"   ;)

Anyway, I thought I should probably fill you guys in on what has happened this week. I think I already told you I saw Anthony, but that has been a major blessing to see him and talk with him this week. So, this week in our classes we are learning more and more Portuguese and on top of that we are learning about how to better teach our investigators.  This is also my final weak as district leader and I'm kinda glad because you go to meetings all day Sunday and you never really re-charge for the rest of the week, so this next Sunday is going to be a little different from what I normally do. Oh, and on Fast Sundays in Sacrament Meeting we bear our testimony and it's only the missionaries in our zone that go to our Sacrament.  I got up and gave my testimony on enduring to the end and how it's like an endurance race in the idea that in an endurance race you have to keep moving forward in order to finish the race. You can't stay stagnate and hope to finish.  If anything, you would go backwards. So run the race and keep striving to lengthen your stride and do better and keep pushing... kinda like on a bike ;).  Also, this Sunday will be different because we have 12 new missionaries who are all going to Kentucky and they speak English.  Instead of the whole service being in Portuguese like normal, it will be mostly in English now with only one Portuguese talk.   We will still have to give talks at random when they call on you so at least that's still normal.

Thank you for the information on the Olympics. I am so happy to hear the good news about Oscar Pistorious.  That is so cool.  Needless to say, I knew that the women's soccer team would take gold.  That reminds me, one of our new roommates lived in Africa for thirteen years before he moved to Philadelphia, which was way cool.  I feel like I bombarded him with questions a little bit too much, but it's still awesome to talk to him about how he grew up. He grew up close to the Congo.  He said after a while you get used to all the gun shots and noises in the middle of the night.  I proceeded to talk to him about if he knew any tribal languages and he told me he understands his dad's, but can't speak it.  Once I am proficient enough at Portuguese, I would like to learn some things in some of those languages.

I just wanted to ask for a few things. I need some more athletic underwear.  I completely ripped my only pair on the soccer field because I had a sweet slide tackle!  It was awesome!  You should have seen it and Scott would be so proud of me...ha ha!  :)  Anyways, there's that and also if you could send me one of my bottles of cologne, that would be a life saver.  I can't tell you how bad it stinks in the dorms with all the new missionaries and it permeates my clothes.  Thanks!   :P

Tell Linda I'm waiting for that letter. I want to tell her what I am learning. Most importantly, pass on my love for her and tell her that I pray for her. Oh, (sorry for the randomness of this letter) our lesson last night with our investigator was amazing!  I think my companion and I are really starting to hit our stride in our teaching methods :D

I Love you so much, and the things that you have taught me about the Gospel and about people have benefitted me greatly.  I think that's it for this week. I will write again soon.
