Hey Everyone,
Oh, I'm so glad it's already been a month and you are right, I am counting down the days until I leave to go to Africa! All the elders leaving to Mozambique should be leaving on the the same plane, but we won't know until we get our travel plans. Now that I am no longer district leader, I can finally enjoy my Sundays. Oh, yes, tell Linda B. thank you so much for the cinnamon rolls. They were amazing and all the other elders were bothering me for some. Also, tell her that I am trying not to come back fat! :P I also wanted to tell you that I think it's great that you were able to get to the temple again this week. I love the spirit we are allowed to feel when we enter its hallways and I cant wait to get back and go with you all. That includes Sister B., so you tell her to get it in gear or else!
On to this week... we have almost three weeks left to learn the rest of the language e eu penso o aprendi de lingua é moito bom, tambem nos esta muito animado por nosso dia de fim aqui a CTM (translated: "and I think the learning is going good, we are getting excited to leave the MTC") We have also met some really fun and awesome Tongan elders who love the work as much as they love messing around :). One is serenading me with his voice as I write you! ha ha ha We have received a lot of new elders this week here at the MTC and I don't recognize any. If there is anybody I should be looking out for, let me know. Also, i am keeping grandpa in my prayers. Next week when I go to the temple I will add his name to the prayer roll.
I can't make any promises about not getting notes from other moms when it comes to slide tackling another missionary. ;) ha ha ha If they're out they're playing, they are fair game! lol jk They all can play basketball way better than I can, so when they go and play basketball, I go to volleyball. The Tongans are teaching me tricks so I can get better. There is this Tahitian sister that won't trust me in an actual game to actually come through and hit the ball when I need to. ha ha ha, but she has good reason because those Tongan elders can hit hard. I'm trying to see if she will teach me how she deflects the ball so well when its flying so fast (p.s. the Tongan elders love to spike the ball). Needless to say I am gaining a great love for the people of that part of the world. I don't know how to speak their language, but it's pretty interesting to hear the elders talk. I do spend a lot of my gym time running around the indoor track and that is a lot of fun just to kind of let go for an hour and put some track time down.
Tell Reid thank you so much for the letters he has sent me. They are so awesome to hear from my little brother while I am in the MTC. Sorry if my spelling gets out of hand, the language is starting to take a toll on my English. The more I speak Portuguese, the more I realize how dumb English really is. There are so many rules in English that don't make sense in Portuguese.
Well, I have been reading a lot in the Book of Mormon lately and I have reached a really good part in 3rd Nephi and I think you should read it. I think it's in chapter 17 verse 5, but it's about when Jesus was about to return to our Father in Heaven and the display of faith that the people of Nephi showed him. It's a good read and I think you will enjoy it very much. Also, if you get some time, read 2nd Nephi chapter 4. The whole thing. It talks about Nephi's experience with his life and what role the Lord has played in it (very interesting and inspiring, helps you feel the Spirit). I know I have a lot of suggestions, but here's one more, go online to lds.org and look at some of the Mormon Messages, pick any of them that spark your interest. I found that when I am having a rough day that is one of the fastest ways to bring the Spirit and feel that great love and comfort that Heavenly Father has for you.
Sorry if this letter seems short, but tell Reid to leave a few things behind when he goes up to Scout Camp. They have sinks there..... maybe, so he doesn't have to pack one. ha ha
Love your elder,
Elder Proksch
