Celebrating the 4th

Erik and I have known this for a while, but just haven't realized it to the full extent: our boys are pyromaniacs! Of course, this should be no surprise to anyone with boys. It must be a "guy thing". You know, burning things up, watching things explode...just for the fun of it. The 4th of July is a constant reminder of this fact. This year was no different in that department. As a mother, I've gotten used to the matches and butane lighters coming out as soon as the sun goes down. The moment that I start freaking out is when my 18 year old decides that he doesn't want to share lighters with his brothers and produces a blow torch from the garage. Yes, he's old enough and responsible enough to use one, but what bothers me is that, now, the 12 and 15 year old think that they are capable of using it as well. Thankfully, no one has ever been hurt and we have enjoyed many years of 4th of July fireworks in our front yard. We hope everyone else was able to enjoy the day as well.
