Since it's the new year and resolutions are abounding left and right, we didn't want to be left out of it all, so Erik and I decided to make a few changes this year, starting with ourselves. Hmmm, you say. That's what everyone does this time of the year. Big deal. Really, it's not that big of a deal to anyone else, but to us...hopefully it will at least last a while. We've decided to try to eat healthier. Stop laughing now. We're serious. We're so serious that we cleaned out the refrigerator of "bad" foods and cleaned out most of the not-so-good foods in the pantry. It was tough. I think the boys are starting to feel the effects of this. In order to train ourselves to eat well, we have devoted the first 14 days of January to eating nothing but healthy foods. How are we doing this? Well, Tami decided to go out and buy "the book". You know the one. "You, on a Diet". This has helped a lot and we recommend it to everyone. It's entertaining as well as informative. We look at food in a much different way.
So far, we have done well, with a few minor bumps (or You-turns). We actually feel better and have more energy. We've even lost a couple of pounds in the process (Erik more than Tami). Exercising is the key. We go for a walk every day and double that as "us time". It's been amazing as to how much junk we normally eat. It's not that hard to eat a lot of junk, either, as everyone probably knows. It's cheaper to buy and quicker to fix in most cases.
How long will this last?....you are probably asking. Well, hopefully we'll be able to incorporate this healthy eating into our daily diet. There sure are a lot of things that can divert your attention and efforts, that's for sure. Eating out can be difficult, but managable. Not having enough time to exercise can also be a problem. We'll keep you all posted and welcome any support or cheering! P.S. Sorry, no before and after picts!
