One hundred more miles. It seems like the normal, yearly thing to do now...for Alex. Let's all ride 100 miles around Las Vegas on our bikes. Sounds like fun, right? Well, it was...according to Alex. He took on the Las Vegas Century Ride this year again and had a great time. This year he did something different. He recruited a couple of his friends (YM leaders) and introduced them to the organized ride of 100 miles. His main focus was to learn to ride with others and help others on the team through the race. He did not focus on his placing, just making strides with his friends. Like last year, it was quite windy during the race, but the sun was out and the skies were clear. Dad ran support with Logan, while Mom ran back and forth from bike race to soccer game, to bike race, to home again. I think between everyone in cars and on bikes, we covered over 300 miles today! Alex is doing well since finishing. His back is a little sore and getting up the stairs in our home is rather painful, if not nearly impossible at this point. We're very proud of him for accomplishing this goal and asked him if he was planning any other races in the future. He said he'd like to try the Phoenix, Arizona one in January, but still had to put a lot of thought into the grueling Zion's Spring race. As for now, he'll be relaxing on the couch.
