It's Pinewood Derby season again! Every year we have at least one son that is in the Cub Scouting program and every year we build a Pinewood Derby car. O.k., actually, the son picks out an incredibly complex design, gives it to Dad with color specs and all and says, "I need it by next Wednesday. By the way, I want to help this year." Then what really happens is the night before, Dad pulls out the saw, sand paper, spray paint and prays for everything to go well in the next 24 hours. This year Reid wanted a car similiar to a Lamborgini. Ha Ha. We think that's what he got. Alex even decided to make a car (yes, we know he's too old for this...but hey, so is his Dad and he's still making cars). Alex's came in 4th and Reid's came in 1st. It was a nice birthday gift for Erik. There's just something about being able to brag about your boys.
Well, this week we get double-duty on the birthdays at our house; Erik's and Alex's. Alex turns 16 on the 22nd and Erik turned...well...he's in his forties. Alex would like a driver's permit for his birthday. We'll see if he passes the test first and can cough up the $25 for the fancy paper.
