Sweet? Sixteen

Happy Birthday, Alex! Sixteen years old. So how does a sixteen year old celebrate his birthday at our house? Well, first of all, he gathers up a few friends and his family and heads out for the day to Lake Mead for sun and fun. He spent the day eating, swimming, boogie boarding, eating, getting pulled on a raft behind the boat, eating, getting sunburned, avoiding the Loch Ness lake monster and eating. Of course, he and his friends had to recover from the lake events by coming back to the house and...you guessed it...eating (and watching a movie!). Monday (his birthday), Mom took him down to the DMV and he got his Learner's Permit. By the way, he wanted me to warn everyone to get off the sidewalks! They make you wait for 6 months here in Nevada before you can obtain your actual license. At least that will give us time to cash in any major bank accounts just for his insurance! As for the dating scene (now that he's 16), he says that he's in no hurry. Besides, it's not like he can drive them anywhere because he doesn't have his license. On a side note: he'll be going back to work at the greenhouses next week for the summer while finishing up his Spanish course. As for the cycling, Alex is still training, but doesn't have any races until the fall because of the heat and several activities he'll be working on (Eagle project, schooling, Driver's Ed, etc.). Enjoy the photo!
