Sounds like everybody had an eventful, crazy week.  ha-ha.

Oh yeah, I saw a monkey the other day and it wasn’t just any monkey... it was a baboon.  It was nuts!  Me and Elder Cummings (that’s my new comp) were just walking down the street and... voila!!!!  It was just walking along the wall doing it's thing. Something to note is that baboons are extremely dangerous and something you definitely don’t get close to.  So naturally we stayed our distance.  It was super cool and really crazy. Actually there was this guy walking down the street that hadn’t seen it yet and when he finally did see it (he was like fifteen feet away from it) he practically jumped out of his skin, which was super funny. So, yeah, that was nuts!

By the way, my new companion Elder Cummings is from Saint George, Utah, originally from California and he is awesome.  He has about 2 transfers out on the mission right now and has been trained by an excellent missionary. His Portuguese is surprisingly good and he's super obedient.

So in other news... president has us all on this new idea that the assistants have had, which basically is to find the gold in your area and stop trying to make it.  That’s what we are doing.  Lots of contacts and lots of new people, but not very many lessons yet.  It takes a bit of faith.  There are other missionaries who are already implementing this technique and they are seeing big results (8 families at church and at least four to five families baptized).  I know, nuts... right?  Needless to say we are going to turn this area around and make it a high baptizing area.  We already have one elder at our house who is lining himself and his companion up for a good thirty baptisms this transfer, just themselves, it’s crazy.

President Kretly also talked about getting a stake here in Mozambique by the end of the year, but not just one.... two.  One here in Beira and the other in Maputo.  By the end of 2014 going into 2015 he wants around 5 stakes.  We all thought this guy was nuts, but then he showed us the math. Talk about getting your mind blown!  He said if we all baptize one family a transfer, that’s a mom, a dad and a kid,  all of this is a reality. There are some elders out here baptizing two, three, even four families. This is definitely possible.  All I really have to say right now is that you will be hearing about Mozambique again this next Conference and this time you’re going to hear the word stake. The elders here are really pushing hard for this and it’s definitely within our reach.

You asked if I had read or seen General Conference yet.  Sadly I have not seen or read conference yet but it will get here soon.  I look forward to it.  Your other question was what my favorite time of the day was.  My favorite time of day here is sunset, especially by the bay.  It’s really quite beautiful and there is no way my camera is capturing the real beauty of it, but I will send more pictures next time.  I forgot my camera today, but next week I will take photos.

I think that is all I will write for now, but I hope you all have a good week and enjoy the Spirit.  *Kyle, I am totally praying for you!  Dude, seriously, take better care of yourself!  I want there to be something left of you when I get home!

Love you guys,
Elder Proksch
