Drill Competition

Last fall Logan came to Erik and I and commented that he wanted to join the JROTC Drill team after school. O.k., we thought. Maybe this is just a phase he's going through and he'll realize how much work it really is...being that it is associated with the military and all. Just last year he announced that he was going to grow up to be a surfer dude and then eventually get into the Air Force. We thought, "Well, this should be interesting!" Here it is May and the boy is completely enthralled with what he's doing in Drill. Who knew?! In fact, he's cut most of his hair off, stands up straight, and pays more attention to what he wears. He's also a little more serious about a lot of things. Just recently his team participated in the Clark County School District Drill competition and did very well, especially for missing one of their teammates. Logan had a great time and did his best. It was interesting to see everything that is involved in competing. It's not just marching. They are asked quite a few questions, with great intimidation from Squadron leaders and military officials. Shortly after that competition, his team drove to California to participate in another competition with area high schools. By the end of the trip, Logan was exhausted and came back with a few extra bumps from tossing his rifle inaccurately. They did well with that competition. Take a look at the video...
