Metal Mouth

Now, I realize that calling your son any name other than his own...especially "metal mouth" is just cruel. However, I checked with him before the teasing began and he's o.k. with it! Reid got braces put on his teeth today, hence the name "metal mouth". Everything went real well in the orthodontist's chair and Reid likes his new look, especially the red and white bands they gave him, as he says, "for Valentine's Day". He promised to be careful with them, brushing his teeth after every meal (yeah, right!), not eating hard or chewy foods and not kiss another girl with braces (metal-lock). The duration for this experience is estimated at 20 months, which means Reid will have braces until he starts 8th grade (he's in 6th now). Reid is looking forward to showing off his new smile and grateful that some day his teeth will finally be straight. Mom and Dad ditto that!
