The Project

The planning, the preparation, the time, the sweat, the agony...the project. We're talking about Alex's Boy Scout Eagle project that he successfully pulled off a couple of weeks ago at his brother's elementary school. Alex chose to put on a Bike Safety Fair for the children of the North Las Vegas community with representatives from the fire department, police department, ambulance, REI Outdoor sports and the local Boy Scout troop. There were over 250 children that came and participated in a bike course, fire truck and ambulance tours, bike repairs, bike registration and give aways for free bike helmets. We will try to put up more photos for everyone to see. While Alex is relieved that the project part is over, he knows full well that his work is not completely done as far as earning his Eagle rank. He still has to write up the project on paper and that could very well be the hardest part! We are all very proud of Alex and all the hard work he put into this event and know that we can expect great things from him in the future! In fact, he just went down to the DMV and scheduled his driving test to obtain his driver's license. We're not sure if we should be excited or nervous about this event. This is a new experience for Mom and Dad.

Alex is not the only one who has been real busy lately. Reid and Logan have been keeping everyone on their toes as well. Reid just celebrated his 11th birthday, finished his soccer season, turned in his Cub Scouting uniform for a Boy Scout uniform and will be taking off to Cousin's Week in Idaho soon. He is growing up so fast. He just started his first merit badge for scouting-photography. Everyone is a subject! This August he will be attending the magnet program middle school Logan went to for the past 3 years and is excited about it. Logan was accepted into the aviation program at a nearby high school (which enables him to obtain his pilot's license by the time he graduates). He's extremely excited about that. He just graduated from the aviation program at the middle school and did very well this past year. He would like to be a part of the men's high school soccer team this fall as well as a number of other activities. Ironically, Boy Scouts is not high on his priority list, even though he realizes that obtaining his Eagle rank will help him in the future.

Erik and I are naturally fully engulfed in our children's activities, so free time is rare. We are planning a little get-a-way soon just to preserve our sanity!
