This past week we were fortuneate enough to have Erik's parent come down from Idaho to visit us. I'm not sure they got much rest, but they did come to visit. Their flight down here from Idaho Falls almost didn't happen. They were stuck at the airport longer than what it would have taken them to just drive down, due to airplane mechanical problems. Once they arrived, we carted them off to our home (a brisk drive because Erik was at the wheel!). I'm sure their heads were spinning and they probably didn't catch half the things we said to them because all of us were so excited to see them that we all were talking at once. They managed to get to their room (a.k.a. Logan's tropical bedroom) and crash for the night.
The next day Hallie and Tami went down to one of the malls, did some shopping and celebrated Hallie's birthday a little early by taking her to the Build a Bear Workshop. That was fun and Hallie is now the proud owner of a new, dressed up teddy bear. Joe, Erik and Alex (I'm sure) did something constructive in the meantime. That night we all devoured dinner at a wonderful Italian restuarant called Ventano's and boy, did we eat! There was pasta, seafood, chicken parmisean, cesear salads, brushetta, molten chocolate dessert, and sorbet. So much for that diet.
Wednesday Alex, Hallie and Tami took in the Titanic exhibit at the Tropicana hotel and were pleasantly educated on the event. It was an interesting exhibit where there were real artifacts, real ice (a recreated iceburg), real cold (as in feeling the cold of what is was like that night the ship went down) and real names that we were given at the start of the tour to find out if we (our passenger name) survived or not. Hallie and Tami survived, Alex did not. We were able to get back to the house in time to meet up with everyone else and so a trip to Home Depot and Michaels crafts was in order, so that was the next stop for the day. That night, like clockwork, was Scouting for the boys and Young Women for the girl. Grandma and Grandpa stayed home and recouperated from the days activities.
Thursday was mostly a mellow day, but still a busy one. Erik and Joe went to Tami's mom's place to put up some much-needed shelves in her garage. That evening we enlisted everyone to help Tami clean some model homes on her route. She is thinking of hiring Joe and Hallie full-time since they are so good at the cleaning! The evening was topped off with hot wings, left overs and lots of talk and some relaxation. Friday came too soon. It was time to send Grandma and Grandpa back home, this time without the long wait at the airport! We will miss them and look forward to seeing them again sometime soon.
