Home is a great place to be, especially in between trips. Last week our family had the great opportunity to travel north to Idaho (Salmon) and get (re)acquainted with relatives from Erik's mom's family. I had just returned from a day of Girl's Camp at Mt. Chareleston and then we left town. Since total travel time from Vegas to Salmon is anywhere from 10 to 12 hours, we decided to split the trip and stay the night somewhere between Ogden and Pocatello...which equals Tremonton, Utah. We had no choice that night, however, because the transfer case on the truck failed us about one mile from the exit to Tremonton. Naturally, there are no mechanics on duty in a small town near 10 pm, so we prayed our way into town to find a motel. The first stop produced no luck as they had no vacancy. That was actually to our advantage because the second stop we made was right in between two GM Motor service shops and dealer. The next morning we got up and were able to get the truck serviced and on the road by 2pm. We feel very blessed that everything worked out so smoothly, even though it was an inconvienence and some money out of pocket (cheaper, though than Vegas!). We did eventually roll into Salmon that night and had a great evening with family. The next couple of days we were able to do some clean-up and repair service for grandparents and community as well as float down the river on a hot day. The trip seemed way too fast. On the way home we experienced a slight hail storm and large raindrops around the Cedar City area. As if that wasn't enough excitement, Erik had Alex drive the last 150 miles home...with trucks and curvy canyon roads and speeds around 80 mph and with siblings and mother in back seat. I think we are all relaxed now from that lovely ride.
In a few days we will be taking off again. This time towards Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. It's a road trip. This was rearranged from our pre-planned Texas trip to a waterpark. Airlines were a little too greedy for us to tackle that trip, so we decided we would take in some sites en route to Colorado's waterparks. Four Corners monument, Mesa Verde cliff dwellings, Silver Guage Railroad and the waterparks are on the list of things to visit. Hopefully the rain will be minimal, but hey, to us, it will feel refreshing! We're taking 3 cameras, so there ought to be a photo in the next blog...
