Scout Camp

Two brothers, one forest, ten merit badge "blue cards", three bags of candy, and night after long night of talking and giggling like little girls...it's got to be Scout Camp week. Alex and Logan headed up to camp Monday morning at around six with all the essentials to last through the week. Like knives, candy and swimsuits. Logan had to be reminded to bring socks and underwear, but, hey, it's Scout Camp...why worry about the little things? Actually, why worry about the little things when your big brother packs everything from his room that isn't tied down. It's probably because he's participating in a two night campout where he can only take what he has on his body at the time. Alex is really looking forward to the adventure.

It's been busy travel time for Logan as he just returned last Thursday from a school trip to Florida visiting interesting sites such as the Kennedy Space Center, Sea World, Epcot Center and few other places. He had a great time and we would show you some photos of Logan and his friends having the time of their lives, but he decided to take photos of dark night skies and alligators because he didn't think that we would want to see pictures of him and his friends. Oh, well. Logan said he learned a lot from this trip, but Erik and I think he mostly learned not to call his parents at 3:30 AM (6:30 EST) to say "hi". We all lost sleep that week.

My special family;

Gosh times flies when one is having fun(?). The last time I had a couple of minutes to read your blogs was about 6 back ("Mission Impossible").

A very belated Happy Birthdays to Alex and Erik.

Keep working at it, Alex, and you may yet fill that hollow leg by the time you are ready to go on your mission. Have you decided what your Eagle Project is going to be yet?

Erik, it doesn't look like another year has touched you. You look as good as always. (and from this old lady, that's saying you look pretty good.)

A not quite so belated Happy Birthday to Reid. Way to go champ with Pinewood Derby win. I don't think you have had enough birthday celebrations though. You and the rest of the family should come up to our 98 degree weather and we can have a really big bash for all of you to celebrate the last couple of birthdays each of you has had that we have missed.

Alex, you need to post your travel routes (and days & times, too) for when you are driving. That way people can not only stay off of the sidewalks, but streets, parking lots, and driveways along that route during the days and hours you post. Everyone will be safer.

I was telling my boss' son about you and your cycling, he said to look at it this way. Not only are you training to replace Lance Armstrong, but you will be the best prepared missionary ever. Not only will you be a great scriptorian (due to your Seminary studies), but you will be able to go for hours, or days on a bike without tiring.

Logan, Frosty and I want an email from you all about your Florida trip. That is your summer assignment. We'll take a snail mail letter about it even. It sounds like you had more fun than your mom an dad did while you were gone. Those 3:00 AM calls are real killers.

Tami, besides running the boys all over, what are you doing with yourself? We hear about what you are doing for everyone else, but don't forget to do for yourself, too.

I sure enjoyed our brief visit, when you stopped by here a lifetime ago.

We are looking at coming down to Vegas in October for the RenFair, Alex, the 13-15 of October. That is also Phillip's birthday weekend, so we hope to have some time with him to celebrate.

I am going to send out an email in the next two or three days to catch family and friends up on our lives for the last several months.

I may seriously look into doing the blog thing.

Love you all,

Ray D.
