Tadaaaaaa!!!!!!
This week was great. We had all the Christmas festivities that I told you about and it ended on a good note. We were not able to go back to that rich young guys house, but we did find a new guy who really wanted to talk to us. When we go to his house, he basically divulged all of the problems he was having in his life and said that they were the result of witch doctors, and yes, they do exist and they are very annoying to deal with. We taught him about the Book of Mormon and he kept asking us about church, when was the next time he could go to church. It was great. He is definitely a blessing. Then we went to a members house and right in the middle of the lesson the sky decides to open up and its pouring cats and dogs on the tin roof. We were walking home in the rain and there was mud every where. It was so much fun. Elder Oryang and I were struggling not to slip and fall because it was so slick. We ended up getting back to the house soaking wet. It was hilarious and today we went and played soccer and it was awesome. Just so much fun, but it was ridiculously hot. After that, we went shopping and that was interesting. For two reasons, one, all of Mozambique was there trying to buy food at the exact same time that we were and that was really annoying but also something else happened. I was walking into the store and there is a place where they sell TV's and on one of the TVs was this movie about the Indians from South America and it was this battle and it was really graphic so I looked away, but I saw all the other people standing around me looking at the movie as well and it brought a thought to my mind. It wasn't a very comforting thought... this world is moving away from the things of God faster and faster every day. It also kind of struck me because these people over here don't know that something of the nature of what they were watching actually happened and that really made my heart sink. Over the time that you read the Book of Mormon, you start to develop a love for the people you read about and it's kinda hard not to do that because the men who wrote these books really loved these people and the Lord loved these people and even though the movie probably wasn't that accurate, it still hurts to see people that were once so great do such horrible things. I guess it's like any other thing in the gospel. When a missionary comes home and doesn't live up to the standards he had, it's heart breaking. That's not all. I walked into the store and as we were battling our way to the check out, there are all these magazines with celebrities and their life story that nobody really actually cares about. The thought entered my mind again that our believes and this gospel will be mocked on every hand and it's scary to think that things are only getting worse. It was just kind of eye opening for me. It's kind of like a doctor at a clinic that is treating patients. Generally, he never sees the accident actually happen or let alone, knows how it happens. He just fixes it. That's kinda how I felt today, but only I understand now a little bit better how it happens. Believe me, living in a bubble right now doesn't sound too bad, but I know I can't do that. It's out there and you need to watch out for it. So that was my experience today. This thunderstorm here is about to knock us out as far as power goes so I think I have to end here.
Yes, I got your packages, but there are too many to bring up to Beria, so they are bringing up parts of those packages and I am getting some of those things tomorrow at ZONE CONFERENCE. I am so excited for that, if you can't tell.
I will write you guys with more cool stuff next week, lots of love,
Elder Proksch
