Coming Across the Plan of Salvation

So my week was better than last week. The area is slowly picking up and we are moving towards our goals.  Not much else happening than that.  It's just kinda in a slow point right now and to pick up speed will take some time.  To get it started is a big battle to win sometimes.  We found a lady this week who is incredible.  She accepted a visit from us and after we taught the Restoration, we asked her if she had any questions. She said she had one. Does the same power to heal and cure people still exist here?  Gladly, we answered yes and gave her explanations on where that power is and where it has been.  Then this sweet lady said something funny, if it wasn't kinda sad.  She said that we were too late because her husband had died three years back and she has been looking for that power or the right church ever since.  We then told her about the Plan of Salvation briefly and how she and her husband could live again together through the teachings of Jesus Christ.  A smile crossed her face and I know that I didn't put it there because the Spirit was confirming what we had said to her.  I am so grateful for moments like that!  Those are the moments that make up a mission.  She then came to church on Sunday.  It makes me think about all the people the Lord prepares daily to receive this message.  Sometimes I feel inadequate because I can't find these people or I don't feel like I am doing enough to find them, but when you do find one, you know it.  This lady is probably going to get baptized here in about two or three weeks.

That was the highlight for my week.  I still have not gotten the package, but the Kretly's say they have two suit cases full of packages back in Maputo ready to come up near the end of December, so I am betting it's in one of those and my boots are still down in Maputo.  I won't get those back until I go back down there, but it's okay.  The rain hasn't been too active this week, so I am doing good.  We do have a Christmas program coming up at the end of this month and it will be given by the missionaries.  I like that because we get to give a gift to the members.

Speaking of members, we had testimony meeting and a little girl got up (missionaries taught her family), not much older than 7 years old and she bore her testimony and it when something like this, "One day I  was out playing with one of my friends and she asked me if Jesus lives and I said I don't know, but then I stopped and said no, I know that He lives and he loves me too!  In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."  After that some people started clapping in the chapel and that was kinda funny, but it was important to note that these people were spiritually awake in that meeting and they felt the Spirit of that little girl's testimony.  I thought that was the coolest thing ever.  Sometimes as a missionary you wonder what kind of impact you make or if you make one at all, but at the end of that little girl's testimony it was a resounding spiritual thump that basically said that these missionaries have made an impact.  It was good to know.  Stuff like that gives you strength. It also taught me that these children know what they know and are willing to share it with everyone.  She remembered a song in Primary and used it to help teach her friend.  Sometimes it's that simple.

We played football again and we had fun today, but it was really hot.  I am also getting a haircut today, but I think when I start talking about haircuts, I need to end a letter because I don't have much more to say.

Thank you for wishing me a happy birthday.   It means a lot...... I feel old, yes!

Anyways, lots of love,
Elder Proksch
