This week was a good week and it had a sweet ending. We have been having difficulty setting the branch back to where it needs to be so we don't feel scared to bring new investigators or families to church. It just seems to be struggling, so we decided to have a branch BBQ in two weeks. We are all excited for that. Lots of games and a spiritual thought at the end, but we are trying to get the branch a little more unified. I do think that quote that you sent me, Mom, can really help with some of the people here in church being less active. I can't wait to try it out and maybe help a few of the people. Thank you for that information. On to this week.... the work is starting to pick up and we just dropped our first set of families, which is actually good because now we can look for new ones and this will help us find the golden ones (something that I think we did this week). Unfortunately some of these people didn't come to church, but that's OK. We can't find new families if our old ones are taking up all of our time and not going anywhere.
Towards the end of this week me and Elder Poyfair were walking around and contacting people and we saw this guy with dreads (the hair thing). We start talking to this guy and he speaks English and he just starts talking to us about how he has a deep love for God and prays everyday to just thank him for the wonderful life that he has. Elder Poyfair and I are just standing there about ready to ask him if he wants to get baptized at church on Sunday, but we didn't. ha ha! We must have sat there for a good fifteen minutes speaking English and just talking about things. He said that every Sunday he wakes up at four in the morning to go to church because he said, "I just have to take care of God first and then I can do everything else." We were like, "Whoa!!!!!" This guy is amazing! I am really excited to talk to him. He also said he doesn't do drugs or any kind of drinking. Major blessing and hope that he can feel the spirit in our lesson with him. We also found a couple of married men with families who might be good options as well. Elder Poyfair had an idea to visit and old investigator and it turns out he wants to get married with his wife ASAP. Lots of good things happened at the end of this week, so I am excited to see what happens during the next one.
Sorry about the photos. I am going to send some more. I just haven't gotten around to it.
In answer to your question: With the average family, it all depends, but most have furniture (it's really beat up) and the floor is basically concrete but can sometimes be dirt. Some of the poorest houses are made out of sticks and those are kind of fun to teach in, really cozy too! Health- wise it's been pretty good. Not much to report there... which is a good thing and a blessing!
Well, I think that's it for this week, have a good one!
