Shout Out for Mozambique!

ola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey family!  It's great to hear from you guys, especially about Conference.  That's awesome that you guys all watched it and if you haven't watched it, read it or something.  Listen to that stuff.   It's super valuable.  It was good to know that Mozambique got a shout out from Elder Anderson. President Kretly talked about the phone call that he received from him.  He said he was driving in his car when he got a phone call and the person on the other end said,  "Pres. Kretly?   Elder Anderson would like to talk to you," and he said, "Oh, OK."   Elder Anderson speaksPortuguese, which is super cool, so he asked him about this past month's stats and President Kretly said, "Yeah, we baptized 85 families here in Mozambique."  Elder Anderson was like "Oh, wow!  So here's the real question, how many are active?"  President Kretly said, "Oh... all of them!!!!"  He said that Elder Anderson said, "Wow!  Great work!"  Then they finished the call talking about other things.  We were all just blown away that an apostle would call to find out about us.  What was even more cool was the fact that the picture you guys saw is one that I didn't send, it was the next one they took with all the missionaries."   I can't remember where on the church grounds, but that was the day of the baptism.  What I do remember is that  it was a day I can not forget.  The Spirit was there in abundance as each person entered the water.  I think the highlight of that was when I had the opportunity to enter the water with one of my investigators to see him baptized.  That was a great blessing and a memory I will cherish, but I am going to try and top it by getting more families to the next collective marriage, so we can start making waves in the baptismal font.  Anyway, so I can not wait to see Conference (it comes later for us).

This week we found some new family and had the opportunity to teach them and answer their questions. One family had a lot of questions about the plan of salvation and we were just about to stop teaching because they looked a little bored or uninterested, so I said  we will answer the question about where we go after death next time and the lady stopped me and said, "Wait, you're just going to stop there? I need to know what happens next."  I decided to challenger her and I asked her why?  "We can just come back some other time and she said, "No, I want to know now.  I need to know now!"  So we started telling her.  It was just interesting because I could not only see her desire to know, but I felt it too.  Although it isn't clear what motivated her to want to know, I do know that she has a desire to learn and that's all I need from someone to teach them.  It's a desire to learn.  At the end of the lesson, we asked them if we could come back and they said we could and then they added that a lot of their questions had been answered and then we told them to prepare more for the next time we meet.  The lady said she would and that she will make a list.  After that, we asked them to pray and I had the opportunity to teach the husband how to pray.  It was way cool.  I could see that the visit made a difference in their day.  The husband kept talking about how much light and knowledge he had received to day and those were his words.  "Wow, I have received a lot of light today."  It was just kind of surreal, but it was a good lesson and I hope we can meet with them again. Well, my comp will be able to meet with them, anyways, because I am getting transferred. I am going to a place called Beira (Beta is how you say it).  It's up north and the second biggest city in Mozambique.  Less people speak Portuguese up there because it's closer to the jungle and my companion is from Cabo Verde.  I think he only speaks Portuguese and Creole which is a type of Portuguese, butdoesn't even sound the same.  His name is Elder Gomes and he is in his last transfer before going home so this will be interesting.  I am excited to go, but I am also kinda sad because I have been in this area for so long that I have made some good friends and a lot of cool people that have helped us out a lot.   I got pictures of of investigators and people that I know here, but I had to pack last night because I am leaving today and I don't have my camera.  Anyways, I am glad to be going to a different area and I can't wait to see what new challenges and families we can find.

So that's my life right now and I still haven't seen any crazy wild life yet, but I assume I will see a monkey eventually. ha ha ha.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to tell you guys but I am in the one place where they have my favorite snacks just on hand every where.... cashews and grape soda.  It's everywhere, but it's awesome at the same time.  Just thought Id share that with you.

When I start talking about food here, it's time to end.  I just want to wish you good luck, Mom, in your triathlon next week or the week after that.  I know it's on the 20th right?  Anyway, good luck on that.  I know you will do great.
