Fiery Darts

Another week down and only one to go after this one.  Transfers are coming up and I can't wait to see somewhere new in the mission.  With my luck, I will probably stay here for another one.  ha ha ha!   I am loving the progress we are making in our area, although we only have one couple, they are making big strides and they are going to get married!!!!!!!!!!!!  Holy cow!  It's on the second of next month which is nuts.  This guy is sailing right through all the requirements to make covenants with the Lord and he is even asking about the priesthood.  Our other investigators, however, are either falling off the wagon or slowing down and I think the Lord is trying to tell me something.  I think I have figured it out too.  It's to use the Spirit and work with it in order to bring souls unto Christ.  I think that is the weapon we forget to use so often against our daily opposition.  Often we think we can do things ourselves and forget to include the Lord in our work.  He is the key to making it all work.  It's not always easy to remember to put the Lord before your interests cause you think you know what you want, but just like a 2 year old doesn't know necessarily why they are hungry, you don't know why you are suffering and you need a way out.  The best thing you can possibly do is include the Lord.  I love that scripturein Proverbs that says to trust in the Lord and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 5,  I cant remember the verse)  It's really like Elder Anderson said, you need to be ever vigilant in keeping your faith, your shield of faith.  If a shield weakens in battle, army's of old would repair them and make them strong again.  So it must be with your faith.  If you are to withstand the ever INCREASING buffetings of Satan.  And I say increasing because they will never be less, so get yourself a strong shield.  You should consider how strong your faith/shield is and what it is made out of.  If it's just made out of wood, then when a fiery dart hits it will just burn, so make your shield is out of something stronger than the principles and ideas of man.  Base it on something stronger, like the scriptures or words of a living prophet.  These will give you faith that can last.
Concerning some of the members who believe they are well off and have nothing more to do in church, there is a scripture in 2 Nephi 28 verse 24 which says something to the fact of wo unto him that is at ease in Zion. So you have work to do, lifting up of hands and strengthening the feeble knees.  You should never feel like you are done in this church.  If so, you may be in need of repentance.  If you have new converts who feel a lack of purpose in this church, give them a calling and help them feel included. It's only together that we succeed.

I know this letter is really short but I don't have much time I will write more next week.

Love Elder Proksch
