Hey Everyone,
This week with the language I am understanding more. Eu sou que mais oracao da-me force e futalece a minha fe. That basically means that I know that through prayer I can strengthen my faith. The line between english and portugese is begining to blur and I feel I am making progress. I dont know if I can say the same for my companion though. He is struggling and I think I know why. He often finds himself being critical of the way he uses the language and I pray for him and tell him not to be so hard on himself. He's a very hard worker and I am very lucky to have a companion with such qualities. This week has also been a bit of a struggle. We were teaching an investigator and by investigator I mean a member pretending to be an investigator, and I found it hard to relay a message mostly because of the language, but I also had a hard time feeling the spirit . It's been like that for most of the week and im trying hard to understand why. I have a hunch its between me and my companion and that makes me kinda sad because I want to help him feel the spirit along with myself, not be a source of a problem. Other than that, it's been a good week.
The elders in my district are amazing people. Elder Staples, in particular. He has a certain kind of humor that always seems to make me laugh :). Like Alex said, I am expected to speak my language as much as possible and I try to. It's going good. My companion is also going to Mozambique and I fear he might get eaten upon arrival! lol :) Oh and by the way, Elder Peckham is in my district and he is awesome! (natural soccer player as well. He's got mad jump skills!) <------- excuse my ghetto-ness. But yes, I love Elder Peckham and his companion, Elder Evans. They are all very good men. Please let Sister Shields know that. I have been appointed to district leader within the first week and that means I have to pick up mail and go to one or two different meetings each week. < mostly just mail, which kinda brings me too my next two questions. I don't mean to make this a shopping list, but they don't sell athletic socks here and I am in need of them. Right now my companion has been so awesome in allowing me to borrow his socks and I don't want to over-stay my welcome with that one. :/ That's about it this week. I am thankful for all your prayers and your love. I hope I didn't forget any questions. (my whole district is going to Mozambique, save for two who are going to Portugal)
So I'll write you a letter or something a little later.
Much love,
Elder Proksch
P.S. If you use dearelder.com I can receive letters any time that you have written through email. Check it out and if it's something you wanna do, I would greatly appreciate it.
