Betting for Baptisms

Elder Proksch's letter this week... (Editor's note: Mom accidently erased previous week's email...devastation!)

Sorry if this week will be a little short, but I have still got a lot to do. Yes, I am actually pretty close to the US Embassy and I am right in the middle of everything, but that makes my job all the more easy to do. Sorry, I still haven't gotten any packages yet from you guys and like I just said, I can't re-send my last letter because I don't even remember what I wrote. Every week can feel the same and you just go along sometimes.

Well, this week has been interesting. I was talking to a brother in my last ward. He told me he was once in the office just like me with my same job and he said everyone began calling him the "Angel of Death". The reason is that he did all the odd jobs for the president, like me, and sometimes had to send people out of the mission. Sometimes missionaries were happy to see him and other times they weren't because they knew they had trouble. I had to agree with him. It's not always what I want to do, but someone has to do it. Sometimes where I need to go, the president can't. I am not going to lie, most days my job is ok and fun to have my job. Just not the part of sending people home. I have a lot of perks in the office, which helps my stress levels. By the way, I'm trying to send a few pics of me in the office. I hope you enjoy them.

The work in the field is a little slow and we are looking for good investigadores. We're just trying to finish up on some people to get baptized. Other than that, not much has happened. Just a side note: My companion played a card game with a non-member last night and said that if he won, she has to listen to the lessons for a week, but if he lost, she wouldn't have to see us for a while. I'm pretty sure that's betting, right?! Anyway, as I sat and watched the game, I didn't understand it and it ended and we won so next week we have a good shot at completing this family. Can you imagine what kind of conversion story this will be? "Well, I made a bet with the missionaries in a game of cards and now I am baptised." Oh, this should be good.

I will keep you guys up to date on this one.

Love you all and take care,
Elder Proksch
