Bikes

What a week I had here too. So much has happend with changes and all I almost don´t know where to start. My head, well I am a little boggled as is what to write.

To start off, they made me a District Leader. Thats a big headache I didn´t want, but just like one of my old Zone Leaders said, once you start to get the hang of things they will move you up or you get changed again. So now I am in charge of 4 missionaires and have to deal with their challenges and their problems while managing my own. It's a nice compliment to know that the mission president trusts me. My district is teaching me a lot too.

Well, it's good to hear everything is changing back home because that means things are progressing. Sidney is now the 2nd Councilor of Relief Society in the singles ward. Wow, that's amazing and Michael Cook is home. Sweet! OK, my head hurts.

Today we played more soccer at the church. Another typical p-day. Everyone is done playing that sport for awhile. I think it might start to change to dodge ball.

If you remember Jimbo, he came to church for the first time yesterday and we traded watches. He is such a cool guy and reminds me of a lot of our friends on our street. He has about 6 tattoos and 3 Pitbulls, but don´t miss judge him. He is probably one of the nicest guys I know here in El Salvador. He is about 33 years old but is a total Nephi, acts like a 3 year old and well, we get along great. My companion on Sunday was teaching a lesson on the Spirit and accidentally slipped and said something about eggs and the two of us in the corner just started cracking up. That and at the end of the class for the investigators one of the recent converts had a question about how to know if the Spirit is leaving us and how we can tell. That's when Jimbo took off and started explaining to this member with his testimony. I was sitting there thinking, "Wow, this guy has a testimony of the Church. This is really good because it means he knows what it is and how to recognize it."

Well, that's his story for the week. Not much else has happened, but i did find a guy out here who is really big into road biking and has offered me on a Monday (P-day) to go for a ride with him around the area. We would put my companion in a support truck and they would be our chase vehicle. We taught him about the Word of Wisdom and he is 100 percent in line with that. It is amazing what we do with our talents. Just like the parabal that if we bury them, they profit us nothing or other wise the Lord takes them from us. If we use them and build and develope them, the Lord will use us for them.

It's funny, just in front of his house he told me to take his bike for a spin, a carbon fiber basically same bike as mine, only 18 pounds, aluminum rims just a different gear system. So I hopped on and ran a few passes in front of him and his house. He was impressed and it felt great for me to get back on a bike again. He used to be a trainer for a few riders and noted on the gear changing I did and the quick power I got out of the bike. When I got off, he told me, if after the mission I needed a trainer, he would be more then happy. Now there are a few more things you should know about this guy... his name is Nelson and he has only got one arm, which is his left. He rides a normal bike like most people, just slightly modified for his arm. He has rode in a few competitions in France, but not the Tour. The division just below the Tour. Just all around a really great guy. He reminds me a lot of myself and he's only forty.

love lots your son and friend
