A Few Bumps

Today is Monday and I got a little tricked. On the calendar there was scheduled a training with the all the leaders but the meeting got canceled and the mission president gave a surprise visit to our zone... at 8 am. Well, no one gave us the call and so we arrived at normal time at 9. There's nothing like walking into what you have been told is a normal day... and there is the mission president! "Hi President?" (Great! Elder Proksch now looks like a slacker.) Not fun. On the other hand, I kind of had an excuse. I have been sick again. Not sure if I really got rid of my sickness from the first time so my stomach was giving me the fits. When president started to ask questions about my area, like, "are you a prepared missionary?" I showed up the rest of my zone with the work we have been doing. Everyone had about 1 baptism for this weekend. Their baptisms were possibles that could happen but we came in and had 3, and 1 for sure that would baptize this week. It felt good to be able to defend on a trap like that.

I have meet a few new people this week that have been interesting too. One of my investgators broke his arm, the Leopuldo guy. He was hauling bricks and then started to rotate backwards off his shoulder and I think it pulled his arm out of the socket. So he has seen better days. Just need to marry him to his wife and they are all go.

Reid, I think asked how many baptisims I have and I have 12 right now. Kind of hard in this area, but that won´t stop us. At night a lot of these churches gather and it's not even preaching. It's like open mic night with kareoke and cats dying a slow death. It has rained like crazy here and I finally broke down and got a good pair old work boots and we're talking army-rated here. Only 26 dollars. A steal of a price. They come up to about mid-calf so they keep out the water. I bought a plastic trench coat all of 2 dollars and it covers me from head to toe. Sometimes I feel like I must be in England with all the rain. I almost didn´t see the sun for a week. Then there are other times when it rains without even being clouds in the sky. The weather is fun here.

Well, not much else to say, but I want to hear about the first flight that Logan takes. I am proud of him and he is doing good to get some wing time now. Better watch out, because when I get back I will be hot on his tail get up in the skies too.

To finish up...thanks to Sidney, Grandma Dyer, Grandma Proksch and everyone else who writes me.

I appreciate the concerns about being sick, but at the same time I ask myself maybe it's just a fact of life down hear and you know that line from Nacho Libre, "It is true. I have had diarreah since Easters", and then some. MAN I LOVE THIS MISSION AND WOULDN´T CHANGE IT FOR THE WORLD.

love,
Elder Proksch
