Where do I start? I think I will have to start with a question I got from Reid. What do the locals and people of El Salvador think of the white guy? The drunks don´t like me, in fact they hate Americans so I tell them I am Australian. The other people actually kinda like the Americans when they aren´t cocky. So they actually like the missionaries. Just as long as we stay away from politics, thats cool with me. Everyone tells me, "Oh Barrac Obama is going to be the downfall of the nation." I, of course, can´t talk about it or share my opinion because I am a missionary. In a way, it"s sort of protection. I found a new dish this week I call barrocos. It's like a mix between burritos and a taco. You take a corn tortilla, put a slice of cheese inside, a spoon of uncooked refried beans on top of the cheese and on top of that you put a little dolop of tomato sauce, fold the tortilla and fry it. Take it out and enjoy. They are really good. Number one because they are fried, and two because who doesn´t like burritos or tacos¿
Logan, you have to tell me what you think the first time you fly a plane. I'm sure it will be something you will never forget. By the way, my favorite story in Super Sonic Saints is the helicoptor story when the guys are in Iraq and they have to resupply the ground forces with ammo. They have a Cobra support and everything. I really like that story.
Dad thanks for the uplifting letter about obediance in the mission. I have been getting better with my companion still working with the president and waiting for a response as to what to do. I really don´t know what else to say right now except I look forward to writing you all on Monday and being able to talk as well. It sounds like Vegas is changing at its ever rapid pace. We have a trampoline place right by the house? Who knew? Save up some questions you guys would like to ask me for next week and I would be more than happy to answer.
Ian, thanks so much for the letter. No I have not heard from Brittney in a while and yes, Satan will do everything he can to keep you from going on a mission. It is that much more important that you go. It will build your testimony so much in the Church. The mission isn´t easy. It takes commitment and determination. You will have hard leaders hard companions and through it all people will tell you it's a learning experience even if that's the last thing you want to hear, but you will learn and you will grow to love something with a passion. You will be able to make an eternal difference in your life and in the lives of others. There will be days that doors get slammed in your face. Believe me, its happend. I never thought much of it until it happened. Don´t dwell on it. The strongest part of you has to be your mind and testimony. Through faith, testimony and the Book of Mormon, no one attack of Satan can stand its power. I love the Book of Mormon and know of it's validity more then ever now in my life. I understand why many would give their life to protect it, once you honestly know of it's truth, you can not deny it. Many other churches say they have and believe the same things as us. People spend their entire life looking for what we have. Some even deny it when they find it, but I know this church is true. We have a living prophet here on the earth today and his name is Thomas S. Monson. We have twelve apostles and we have teachers, preachers, pastors, deacons and they all hold the priesthood. This is my testimony that Christ lives, and will come again.
If you just need to feel better, bear you testimony.
love Elder Proksch
