Adventures over the Holidays

We all seemed to make it through the holidays unscathed and in good spirits. Everything was low-key, which is the way we like it.
After Erik cooked a double meal on Thanksgiving (one for us and one for a family that was in need), we celebrated Logan's 16th birthday. Wow, 16! As a parent, nothing makes you feel older than one of your children having a birthday. Logan had to go to school on his birthday, which kind of took the fizzle out of the day, but we made up for it by having friends over on another day, going out to dinner the night before and various extra activities throughout the month. Erik took him down to get him outfitted in his first suit and he looks so handsome! His brothers now have to put up with him and his "good looks".
Christmas came a little early this year as we traveled to Northern Idaho...Salmon, to be exact. You know the place...2 below zero in temperature! It was an exciting trip full of chips in our car windshield, close calls with deer, and finally a surprise doorstep arrival at grandma and grandpa's. They were very surprised and gracious to receive us rugrats into their home, unannounced. I guess the big red bows on our heads and shivering bodies convinced them to let us in! So, we stayed for a few days, had some snow fun and ate wayyyyyy too much. We were back before Christmas Day. Christmas day was quiet, but very nice. Grandma Dyer brought her neighbor friend over for another one of Erik's superb meals and numerous games on the Wii. We hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas Day and are looking forward to a new start in 2009. We are!
