In Like a Lion

Not only does the weather around here come in like a lion, so does the swarm of activities for our family! One would think that it would just be limited to home life and a few sports, but no, not for us. One would also think that this would drive a family nearly insane, but in all actuality, it makes us thrive! Crazy? Maybe, but that's the way we roll.

So, what is keeping us all on our feet? Well, let's start with Alex: Over the past month, he's made great strides in completing all but one of his school classes (Spanish 2...the toughest) and picked up another day at his job. He enjoys it, but is realizing that he is in a position to move to a more enjoyable job, if he so desires. Not only did Alex receive his Eagle award last month, but this month he was awarded the distinguished Danali Scout award in his troop for his dedication to the program. We are so proud of him! Alex has also started CAP (Civil Air Patrol) twice a week and loves to be close to his dream of flying and being involved in an organization related to the Air Force. This is one thing we know he'll really excel and have fun with, especially when he gets to go flying and serve the community.

Next is Logan: Logan has been working real hard maintaining his A/B grade average at school. Unfortunatly, Mom had to encourage him by taking his Ipod away for a little while (that was when the world stopped). Another incentive was his afterschool ROTC drill team. In order to stay, he needed to have good grades and we found out right away that this is something he really wanted. Logan is also starting the Scout Eagle project process. He is really excited about his plan of gathering and assembling care packages for our military overseas. Along with that, Logan made the earth-startling announcement that he wanted to start looking for a summer job this weekend. Oh, goody!

Reid is next: Reid has not only maintained good grades in school, but has taken on various clubs after school that he really, really enjoys. Clubs such as Pottery, Computers, Tennis, and CAP. His favorite is CAP, much to the surprise of everyone. In a few weeks Reid starts up soccer season and is currently training his legs for the rigors of the field by running stairs and running on the treadmill. Reid is also hard at work earning merit badges in his troop and is starting to see the benefits of this. He can always be found helping in the kitchen or alongside Dad outside.

Yes, this month has come in like a lion...and it will probably stay that way for a while as long as our family has the energy to keep up. We prefer it that way...
