It's amazing how one month can just fly by. Our family hasn't really done anything outstanding as far as trips or huge events are concerned, so that is why I haven't felt that compelled to write. Just every day type of stuff that is taking up our minutes, hours and days. So, I'll fill everyone in on the every day things and hopefully, it will amuse someone!
To start out, everyone knows that when you have children, whether small or big, their activities become your activities. That's where most of my time is spent. Erik tries to catch up and stay informed when he's not at work. First of all, a lot of my time is spent helping Alex with his last 4 classes of high school. This has been interesting because it's been similar to the blind leading the blind. There are 2 subjects that are very, very challenging for him and me: math and Physics. I'm a language person. I do best with his other two subjects, Literature and Spanish 2. Mom's been pestering him to keep the momentum going so he doesn't lose interest. Besides that, Alex wants to take an aviation course starting this summer, so school is a little intense right now. On top of this, the pressure is on to get his Eagle project done by June 9th. That's it. Mom isn't kidding. She's serious and if he doesn't make it happen....it's going to get real ugly around here! Add to that....Alex has 2 months left to get his driver's license before his permit expires. Hmmmm.
Logan, of course, has to add his drama in the middle of this mix by starting up competitive soccer not two times a week, but three! So, we spend almost 5 hours a week at the soccer field (where I have decided that's where I will be doing my nightly walks!). He is also close to completing his Capstone Project for his aeronautics program at school. They have to be an expert on a subject, then present it to the school. His is the F-18 Hornet & P-51 Mustang. Once a week he goes with me to help clean model homes in the area....money for the mall rat that he is.
Reid will be starting up soccer soon. I don't need to tell you where that takes the rest of us... Mom is also heavily encouraging him to get his act together to get his Arrow of Light for Cub Scouting. That means he is very busy trying to get Mom to do scout projects and activities with him in her "spare time". School is challenging for him right now due to the fact that he's a fifth-grader preparing for sixth grade drama.
Erik is very busy with work here in the Valley and in Denver (trying to clean up this winter's mess). Not only that, but he's the Scoutmaster for our area and that means campout's, Court of Honors, weekly merit badge activities and advancements and patience-building. In his "spare time", he tries to make it to a soccer practice/walk with wife and work on our yard or home. We miss him.
The only other thing that's happening here is my fun-filled time of reading my college course in child development just so I can fulfill the requirements for substitute teaching. I try to squeeze it in between waiting to pick up kids, soccer practices and moments before the house gets invaded with people. Social life? My children's activites!

Hi Tammy and Guys;
We missed you this last weekend. We were in town for a family reunion, went by but no one was home.
Kids lives are always a part of yours and any social life you think you might have still revolves around them. This is pretty much a lifetime thing. It even effects you when they have grown and move away from home. Visits revolve around them, vacations revolve around them. And it seems that they never really move out, even when they live states away, are on a mission, or gone to college. They always seem to come home at least for awhile.
Valley of Fire has a special place in my heart as that is where I first met Frosty's parents, 10 years before I met him. I was hiking to "Mousetrap Tank" with a cousin of Mom Long's when we met them coming out from there.
Visits from loved ones always seem to be too busy and NEVER quite long enough to do everything we want.
Thanks for the email update. Keep plugging Alex, math is a real bugger. Get that Eagle Project done, and let us know when it is done. Logan, good luck with your aviation project. Reid, get crackin' on that Arrow of light.
Erik, does staying busy mean staying out of trouble?
Tami, I miss you bunches. Take care of yourselves.
Loads of love,
Ray
